IT360 Science 2 Lesson Plan

A lesson is only as good as its lesson plan.

This was one of the first things I learned in my education program.

There are different formats one could use for creating a lesson plan. This one in particular was for a group project in designing a chemistry lesson. This plan template includes the content standards as well as ISTE standards since it incorporates various technology. It also includes a description of the lesson and the required materials, with links to the technologies used. The lesson is broken down into chunks with an estimated time allotted as well as the WICOR+ activity associated. Other metrics were determined too. For instance, the SAMR and Bloom Taxonomy levels are described at various points of the lesson as well as the merits of each technology used and how it helps teach the concept at hand.

As any teacher worth their salt would tell you, lessons should be planned out. Developing a template can ease the process and ensuring that the template covers the various metrics and standards helps get the ball rolling. This helps ease the teacher's mind when it comes to preparing the lesson and, ultimately, the students benefit the most since they will have a higher quality of a lesson.
